Hi !
Not so enthusiastic about what the postman brought today, one vendor sent a box from October 2009 when I'd picked a 2007 from his listing, and another vendor sent me... well... what you can after clicking the link belowI understand that cabs may not look as polished as dress boxes but this one looks over the top. What do you reckon ?
Thanks for your input

I am with Kermann, not literally, he is correct...
Indeed they do look alright, and the smell is fine as well - otherwise I would have panicked. But does Habanos SA commercialises boxes of that quality ?
Nothing worrying here, Luis…
why don't post this on the french forum?![]()

I wouldn't be overly concern about the less than perfect markings on the outside of the cab. I have seen examples of the bluriness like in your pics as well as outer marking that are clean and crisp almost perfect. Both boxes side by side in an LCDH.
Cigars look good. Ribbon looks good. How do the cigars smell? If they smoke good I wouldn't worry about it. I actually have a box of 09 PSdC #1s from a very reputable source that has the same blurred print.

They must be trying to confuse the counterfeit manufacturers
Now how would you react if you received a box of Sep 2009 Monte Especiales when a 2007 was ordered ? I had the intention to start smoking it right away, so not happy with a box that would have to rest for a while. First reaction was to send it back but it's a hassle for everybody. Any experience with such young Especiales ( compared to 2 y olds ) ?
Vic, the sdc taste fine, will check how they taste in a couple of weeks

Have a box with exactly the same code and exactly the same blurred print - nothing to worry about.
BTW, the cigars are fantastic.

I would be slightly irritated. It really depends on your vendor...some are great with box codes some are not. Generally, those who really pay attention to boxcodes well...and requests cost a bit more. If you ordered a 07 box and they ran out...some vendors will substitute without checking with you. I don't like that either but it happens. The box looks like crap the cigars look good. If it bothers you alot you can always email the vendor.

It comes from a different vendor , offering more service than the sdc's one, I actually selected the initial box from a pic hence it's more disappointing - but the new box arguably went throught the same selection process - but 2 years younger . How do very young especiales smoke ?
I understand your frustration with the vendor Luis but I'd rather have the 09s than the 07s. In the long run i think you will be happier.

I agree Rob...I haven't had alot of 07's that knocked my socks off.

I once got a box of RASCC's in the mail that looked absolutely beautiful, no markings, perfect stamps and seal. I opened the box to find all the cigars but four in pieces, ravaged by beetles. I would take the ugly cab with nice cigars over a great looking box with shit cigars any day of the week.
Is it ? Perhaps I should avoid giving them a hard time then...
They are fake..
I would advise selling them to me for a 25 step science experiment...

Thnaks Ron, but right now considering a box of Monte Especiales 09, which looks quite alright. I'm afraid I will have to go through the painful experiment myself with the SDCs - and with the help of whoever is around and willing.![]()
