There is a contest for the most futile and useless poll?
According to Addiction's wording, if you consume 1 cigar out of a box, you no longer have a BOX.
For example, let's say he has 2 full intact boxes of Cohiba Reservas, and 1 open box.
Now MOST of us would say he has 3 boxes, but he is VERY specific in his wording and only says he has 2 boxes.
Is his math or wording correct?
If his wording is true, then I only have 1 25ct box and 2 (10) count boxes.
I tried using that Fuzzy Math with my wife
Yeah, she didn't buy it.
So, if I open a PL Robusto box and consume 1 or 2 cigars, do I still have a box?
I mean no disrespect to Addiction. I am humbled to smoke in his presence and we gift each other many cigars and help each other out time and time again. I simply want to see if I am the only one that thinks his math is a bit...off

Sorry Bryan.. lol
If theres a few cigars missing, all it means is that you enjoyed a good smoke..

You didnt list option 4:
I own a box when Bryan tells me I own a box.
"It's what Megan Fox would be if she lost the ability to talk"
-Addiction
I think Bryan makes a good point simply for the fact that if I post a box for sale most people would think of it as a full box and one with some smokes missing as a partial box. In that respect I have mostly partial boxes in my collection.
Personally I think a "box" is a box when its full (whole)
But thats just me
I usually have boxes, part of boxes, and singles
The taste for tobacco is a matter of superstition. There are no standards--no real standards. Each man's preference is the only standard for him, the only one which he can accept, the only one which can command him. - Mark Twain
I guess it's all in the interpertation. I have many boxes, some full, some partial, and most empty. When in conversation, I will say "full box", "opened box" (at least one cigar missing), "half box" (give or take a few cigars), or "what's left in a box" (only a few cigars remain).
If someone to tell me they had a box of Monte 2, and I wanted to know, I would ask if it was full.
Interesting semantics. To me you own a box when you buy a box and get the whole package with 25 cigars, cello, container and little leaflet. You still own it after you start smoking from it because you still reference it as a box you owned when full. As in, I have smoked 3 cigars from my box of X, they need some more down time.
What is the more addicting habit, buying or smoking cigars?
I'm asian, so if Bryan had 3 boxes of reservas (90 total) and smoked one out of the box (89), I would say he has 2.97 boxes.. But in chat I'll just usually round![]()
My definition: if you keep the cigars in the box, it's a box, but I go by Dan's definition as well.
If you had 23 cigars, and sold that on ICC as a box, you would get flamed over it, even if your pricing only accounted for 23 cigars. Thus 23 cigars ain't a box if the box started with 25.

Us: "NO!!!"
Other Him: "Hell, he didnt even vote for Bush."
so if I have a box of kleenex and use one to blow my nose, i no longer have a box of kleenex? Stupid imo :P
You are entitled to your opinion. However if you have a box of anything and consume some part of it you no longer have a full box. You have some number remaining stored in a box for connivence sake. Because the flip side of your argument is that I could have 1 Kleenex in the box and call it a box.
The second you use the term "box" as a standard of measurement it takes on a rigid definition, not a fluid one. Any engineer or scientist would agree I believe.

I voted that Bryan's definition is whack mainly because I like to playa hate...but I would agree with him. Once I smoke one cigar out of a box...that box will either be consumed or sold in 5rs. I no longer consider it part of the collection...thus doesn't get counted.

If you take a cup out of a gallon of water is it still a gallon?
I see a "box" as a until of measurement...if it's not then many cigar discussions are invalid.
-I have a box of Cohiba Lanceros for sale....$325 Most would assume thats a full 25 count. Someone would get pretty irritated if only 23 were left.
- I tell JKim that I'm sending him a box of Bolivar CEs for his birthday. He gets them and 3 have been consumed. While he should be happy he got cigars...I know part of him would go what the? When I said a box...he expect a box...25 cigars the unit of measurement for a box.
-John asks Bill...how many boxes of cigars do you own? He says 50. But, most are down to a half or a few cigars. Was that an honest answer to John's question?
And when does a box...not become a box? There has to be a value associated with it. 1,5,10?
And yes...I love useless debates...breaks the day up.![]()
