I'm like you, Heiko. I love merchant and private bottlings of Scotch!
What's the availability of merchant bottlings like in Switzerland? Did you have to order them from the UK?
Here in the US, they aren't incredibly prevelant, but look hard enough and you can find specialty liquor stores that carry a selection of Gordon and Macphail, Signatory, Cadenhead, and other merchant bottles. Usually, you have to look for the liquor stores that have a gigantic and expensive wine selection...that's usually a good sign they will also carry really high-end scotch.![]()

Itīs not a problem to get merchant bottlings here in Switzerland....
The last bottle that I posted is bottled for "Waldhaus am See" in St. Moritz, which has a big range of whisky and also a cigar lounge, have a look at their homepage (http://www.waldhaus-am-see.ch/Genies...S/Default.aspx). The have a partner which is selling the whisky.
The last two years I prefer the bottlings of the independent bottlers more then the original bottlings.... letīs say they are more "as we get it" than the main stream which is wanted by the big Ballers in the business like Hennessy or Diageo....
Ok... one OB is still attractive: Ardbeg Lord of the Isles.... I have a good offer for it and Iīm thinking if I should grab the bottle or not....

that 18 yo. Laphroaig looks great.
Why pay $100 on a therapy session when you can spend $25 on a cigar?
Some great and very rare Whisky`s you got Heiko, very impressive! Springbank is one of my favorites!

I love Springbank too. Only had the 10, but am dying to try the 15!

What a terrific write up Arild. Thank you. Not sure how I missed that one.
Can you describe the difference between the 10 and 15?
I find Springbank to be the perfect whisky for me because it has a rounded, depth of flavor and elegance of a Speysider, yet the brine, peat and character of Islay. The peat is not front in center, more of an "afterthought", but hardly forgotten! It's perfectly structured. I just love it.
